Good Morning Walnut Creek
"Good Morning, Walnut Creek!" is a walk and talk program in partnership with the Walnut Creek Downtown Business Association. It's on the second Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to about 11:30 a.m .Participants walk at a leisurely pace. Under the recommendation of Donna Labriola of WCDBA, we will visit a couple of businesses, mostly coffee shops. We will sample their signature items on the menu. As member Angela put it, "We walk a little, talk a little and get to know the city we call home." Angela really enjoys her downtown walks.

MDV Learns - CPR
MDV Learns - Mt. Diablo Village members are always learning. We learned about the importance of CPR and how it can save lives.

Volunteering for The Network of Care
Partnering with The Network of Care, Mt. Diablo Village members pack nonperishable lunches for hospitals where families with loved ones in critical conditions would be fed.

Prelaunch Reception on January 22, 2025 at Mt Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church
Mt Diablo Village was first introduced to the community at a Prelaunch Reception on January 22, 2025 at Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church. Close to 200 people were in attendance. Among them were leaders and members of Lamorinda Village and Clayton Valley Village. We were gratefuly to have support from the Walnut Creek Mayor Pro Tem Kevin Wilk, Contra Costa County Supervisor Ken Carlson, and our advisor Gail Murray, former Walnut Creek Mayor. We also received a Certificate of Recognition from the office of State Assembly Member Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.

Smell the Roses Walks
Smell the Roses Walks are signature events at Mt. Diablo Village. We walk from Ygnacio Plaza to Heather Farm Park to see the roses in different seasons. The first Smell the Roses Walk was on November 22, 2024 which turned out to be the first day of the atmospheric river storm. It rained so hard that we pivoted and had a meet and greet inside Sports Basement before we walked all the way to A Sweet Affair to pick up a rose to complete the Smell the Roses experience.

Though roses were not in bloom yet when we had our Smell the Roses Walk on March 20, 2024, it was a pleasant walk on level grounds. The weather was nice. Our friend Claes Elfing from San Ramon Valley Village joined us on this trip.

On June 26, other than just smelling the roses, we also saw butterflies at the Butterfly Garden right next to the Rose Garden. Gulf Fritillary were the most active bunch. There were other insects too. We learned that the Butterfly Garden was started three years ago by Nell Fraser. It has now become an education destination for school age kids.
